Brent “Giles” Davis earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2007, where he served as Acquisitions Editor for the Arts and Entertainment Law Journal. He was also a member of the Trial Team and represented indigent clients in New York County Criminal Court as a participant in the Criminal Defense Clinic. His article, Identity Theft - Tribute Bands, Grand Rights, and Dramatico-Musical Performances, was published in the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal. Giles has twice appeared as a guest lecturer. In October 2007, he gave a lecture at the University of Scranton (Scranton, PA) entitled "Intellectual Property Law," and in April 2008, he presented a lecture at the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Morris County (Randolph, NJ) entitled "The Intersection of Religion and Government: The Religion Clauses of the First Amendment."
While at Cardozo, Giles served as a legal intern to Judge William H. Walls, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He also served as a Law Clerk here at Bienstock & Michael, P.C.
Prior to law school, Giles spent more than a decade as a full-time musician, performing with many different artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Julio Fernandez (Spyro Gyra), Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan), Gerardo Velez (Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies), Hugh MacDonald (Bon Jovi), Vini Lopez (E Street Band), Patti Scialfa (E Street Band) and Sylver Logan Sharp (Chic). He also produced, performed and/or composed music for The Food Network, The Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, Actor’s Circle and others. He still continues to perform as a solo performer and with various groups including The Blue East Jazz Ensemble and The Richard Head Experience.
